Our Philosopy & Approach
Natura Early Child Development blends nurture with the natural environment to best support the early development of a child’s life. We believe it is essential for a child’s healthy development to have access to an environment that provides an organic space where kids can fully emerge and experience nature to the fullest. A place where kids can listen to the birds singing, see squirrels running in the trees, watch butterflies in the flowers, and experience the sounds of a small neighborhood. The outdoor space supports gross motor skills such as climbing, jumping, running; and fine motor skills, like picking up pebbles or petting a ladybug. These interactions play a significant role in the early years of child development.
MEET OUR FOUNDER
Ariana Moraes
Natura ECD began with a vision and passion from the founder and owner, Ariana Moraes, who dreamed of starting an early childhood program that would enlighten children’s natural curiosity and help develop his/her potential as a lifelong learner about our planet.
Ariana was born in the west-central region of South America (Brazil) and was raised for half of her life in the north (central-western part) of the Amazon Rainforest, the lungs of our planet. This section of the rainforest has become one of the most deforested places in the Amazon. Because of what she saw happening, Ariana has been trying to educate and enlighten our future (children) regarding the importance of the rainforest for our planet and us collectively as human beings. It is a subject close to her heart and soul. Ariana strongly believes that by exposing early stages of childhood to appropriate books, activities and specific environmental problems and possible solutions, we encourage children to develop a sense of responsibility and involvement in their community and our planet. The founder’s main goal is to encourage and teach our young children to understand and respect all living things in our world. Her vision is to see the children of this generation experience a deep love and appreciation for nature. To that end, she aims to enlighten children on how to love and care for our planet in a curriculum fully designed around nature-based concepts to be explored in an environment full of wonders. As an Amazonian herself who grew up very close to the lungs of our planet, Ariana is committed to provide this vision through a thoughtful and mindful curriculum.
